Trevor Basin

An essential mooring and turning facility with a fascinating history

Situated in the small village of Trevor, Trevor basin is an essential mooring and turning facility on the Llangollen canal. A popular starting point for your canal holiday or day trip, this is where you will find private boat hire as well as the provision of boats for day trips on the canal.  Pontcysyllte Aqueduct visitor centre is situated here, where you can find out about the rich history and heritage of the World Heritage site.

The basin’s original purpose was essentially for the transhipment of coal, building stone, other minerals, iron products and bricks, much of which originally came to the wharf by horse-drawn waggons on a tramroad.

Please note that visitor parking is at Queen Street, near Cefn Mawr, and is just a short walk from Trevor Basin. The car park right next to the basin is reserved for blue badge and permit holders only. Please follow the brown signage to avoid narrow and steep routes.
