Completed in 1801 (just four years before its big brother at
Pontcysyllte), Chirk Aqueduct offers fantastic views.
There's a car park just off Castle Road right opposite
the aqueduct. And Chirk train station is less than five
minutes' walk away too.
Once you're there, take a gentle stroll across and grab a
picture or two for the album.
Then keep going along the towpath and across the Welsh border
into England (where you'll pass picturesque cottages and be a skip
away from The Poacher's Pocket and Bridge Inn pubs). Or turn back
and tackle 'the Darkie' tunnel which - you guessed
it - is very dark and something of an adventure!
