Gledrid Bridge

The entrance to the World Heritage Site in Shropshire

Gledrid Bridge lies in Shropshire, and is the entrance to the World Heritage Site. It is one of the few standard bridges of the canal built of brick rather than stone as the canal had not reached the supplies of good building stone further along the canal.

All of the bridges along the Llangollen Canal are numbered, and as you pass underneath the arch of Gledrid Bridge, you’ll see the sign that labels this one as No. 19W.

Its located just off Chirk Road, outside of Gledrid.
